Massimo Raccanelli

Biography

© Alessandro Fassina

“The orchestra sounds different when Massimo Raccanelli conducts…” (Bruno Weil)

What makes a good conductor? In the case of Massimo Raccanelli, the answer is simple; it is the characteristic sound that the orchestra delivers when the young Italian conductor stands at the podium. This becomes possible through Raccanelli’s clear ideas regarding the sonic realization of the musical text by an orchestra – his instrument. Raccanelli imparts this ideas of sound from his musicians without masking the orchestra’s own inherent sound. He is able to combine his vision with what the orchestra has to offer, so that the most beautiful of both worlds is merged into a new soundscape: orchestral euphony, shaped by the conductor’s interpreted ideas of sound.
