1914. The First World War has broken out and will soon drag all of Europe, Russia and the United States into a bloody conflict that is destined to redraw the map of the continent once and for all.
2014. A hundred years later, the Great War will be remembered around the world. The Flemish Radio Choir is marking the occasion with heart-warming music by English composers who experienced the war from near or far, as well as with war songs: some patriotic, others romantic or consoling. Ravel’s Le Tombeau de Couperin, of which each movement is dedicated to a friend who died in WWI, is the leitmotif throughout this moving programme.
